On a normal day, tours at the Cape May Lighthouse end by 5:00 PM, however, on full moons, the lighthouse invites visitors to climb the 199 steps to the top of the lighthouse and view Cape May Point by moonlight.   After your climb, couples can walk along the Cape May Point Beach, guided by the moonlight - It doesn't get any more romantic than this folks!  We have heard several stories of couples getting engaged atop the lighthouse by the full moon.

Sunsets on the Delaware Bay are Amazing!  The best part is that these beaches, unlike the beaches in downtown Cape May, are not crowded.  It is likely that you will be one of only a few people on these beaches, which adds to its romantic appeal.

How to get to a great spot:  Take a drive out to Harpoons on the Bay at 91 Beach Drive, North Cape May (bring a blanket).  Have a drink and then walk across the street, throw out your blanket and watch the sunset.  You can also watch the sunset at Sunset Beach (it will be more crowded) or at the Cape May Lighthouse.

In my opinion, one of the most romantic streets to stroll along in Cape May, hand-in-hand, is Hughes Street (from Ocean to Franklin Streets, or vice versa).  There is something about Hughes street that exudes romance - While it's right in the heart of downtown Cape May, it is one of the most 'off-the-beaten-path' streets in town - there are no commercial properties or businesses along this street, just quaint Victorian cottages (dating back to the 1800's), with beautiful gardens, nestled along a tree-lined street.

Another option (other than by foot) is to explore this seaside town by bicycle.  The Mason Cottage Inn offers complimentary bicycles to its guests.   Couples can get lost in the back streets of Cape May - where there's NO agenda & NO time-frame.

There is some fantastic shopping in Cape May - great boutique shops offering unusual items that you won't see everywhere else.   For a more romantic shopping expedition, couples can check out Lace Silhouettes on the Washington Mall, which offers high-end bra's, panties and lingerie.

Is there anything more romantic than a private tour of Cape May on a horse-drawn carriage?  The Cape May Carriage Company has been offering historic Cape May tours since 1982.  Couples can reserve a private carriage rides throughout the year from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM (weather conditions permitting)
